Complete guide to all Poly-IQ metrics and features

1. What are Whales?

In the crypto world, a "whale" is a trader who moves large amounts of money. On Polymarket, we consider whales those who make trades above $10,000.

Why follow whales?

  • They often have access to better information
  • They do thorough research before betting
  • Their movements can indicate future trends
  • They move enough capital to influence prices

Warning: Following whales does not guarantee profits. Even big traders make mistakes, and their strategies may not suit your capital.

2. Dashboard

The dashboard shows a real-time overview of whale activity on Polymarket.

Whale Radar

Visualization showing the most active sectors. Indicates where whales are focusing their investments (e.g., "US Politics", "Sports", "Crypto").

  • Most Active: The sector with the most volume in the last 24h
  • Dominant Side: Whether whales are mainly buying (Buy) or selling (Sell)

Top Movers

The 2 traders with the best ROI (Return on Investment). These are the whales performing best in terms of percentage profit.

Recent Whale Trades

Real-time feed of all whale trades. Each row shows:

  • BUY = The whale is buying (betting the event will happen)
  • SELL = The whale is selling (betting against or taking profit)
  • Market: The question being bet on
  • Outcome: The chosen outcome (e.g., "Yes", "No", candidate name)
  • Amount: How much was bet in USD

Active Triggers

Your custom alerts. You can enable/disable notifications for specific events like trades above a certain threshold or Diamond whale activity.

3. Whale Tracker

The Whale Tracker page shows a leaderboard of all tracked whales, sortable by various metrics.

ColumnMeaning

WalletWallet address (click to see details)
TierWhale level (Diamond, Gold, Silver, Bronze)
VolumeTotal USD wagered ever
Win RatePercentage of bets won
ROIReturn on Investment (profit % on invested capital)

4. Metrics Explained

Volume

Formula: Sum of all trades in USD

Example: $1.5M = wagered 1.5 million dollars total

How to interpret: Higher = more capital moved. Does not necessarily indicate profit.

Win Rate

Formula: (Winning Trades / Total Resolved Trades) × 100

Example: 67% = out of 100 resolved bets, 67 were correct

How to interpret: Above 50% is positive. The best whales have 60-70%+.

ROI (Return on Investment)

Formula: ((Total Profit) / Invested Capital) × 100

Example: +25% ROI = earned 25% on invested capital

How to interpret: Positive ROI = profit. Negative ROI = loss. Top whales have ROI of 20-50%+.

Realized PnL

Formula: Profits from closed positions - Losses from closed positions

Example: $50K = earned $50,000 net from already resolved bets

How to interpret: This is the actual profit/loss, does not include still open positions.

Unrealized PnL

Formula: Current value of open positions - Purchase cost

Example: +$10K unrealized = open positions are worth $10K more than paid

How to interpret: "Paper" profit - can change until the position is closed.

5. Tier System

Tiers classify whales based on their volume and performance. Each tier has a distinctive colored badge.

💎Diamond

Volume > $10M and Win Rate > 60%

Elite whales. Traders with huge capital and excellent track record.

🥇Gold

Volume > $1M and Win Rate > 55%

High-level whales with solid and consistent performance.

🥈Silver

Volume > $100K and Win Rate > 50%

Significant traders with good experience on Polymarket.

🥉Bronze

Volume > $10K

Emerging whales or traders with mixed performance.

Note: Tiers are recalculated periodically based on updated performance. A whale can move up or down tiers over time.

6. How to Read Trades

Here's how to interpret a trade in the feed:

BUY

Will Trump win the 2024 election?

Yes • 0x7a3c...98a • $50,000

Interpretation:

A whale (0x7a3c...98a) bought $50,000 of "Yes" shares on the market "Trump will win the 2024 election". This means they're betting YES, Trump will win.

SELL

Bitcoin above $100K by Dec 31?

Yes • 0x9b97...5e12 • $25,000

Interpretation:

A whale is SELLING "Yes" shares. This can mean:

  • Taking profit on a previous position
  • Believes Bitcoin will NOT exceed $100K
  • Reducing risk exposure

How Polymarket prices work

Prices range from $0.01 to $0.99. A price of $0.70 on "Yes" means the market thinks there's a 70% chance the event will happen. If you're right and the event occurs, each "Yes" share is worth $1.00.

7. Alert System

Alerts notify you when interesting events occur. We currently support:

Whale Alert > $100K

Notifies when a whale makes a trade above $100,000

Diamond Tier Activity

Notifies when a Diamond whale (top tier) makes any trade

High Volume Markets

Notifies when a market exceeds $1M in 24h volume

Coming Soon: Email notifications, Telegram integration, and custom alerts for specific markets or wallets.

8. Wallet Page

Clicking on a wallet in the feed or table shows full details:

  • Stats Overview: Volume, PnL, Win Rate, active positions
  • Positions: All open bets with current value
  • Trade History: Complete history of operations
  • AI Analysis: AI analysis of trader behavior (requires payment)

AI Analysis (x402 Payment)

AI analysis costs a small fee in USDC paid directly from your wallet. You'll receive a detailed report on trading style, preferred sectors, and behavioral patterns of the whale.

9. FAQ

Where does the data come from?

Data comes from the Polygon blockchain via Goldsky (indexer) and Polymarket APIs. Every trade is verifiable on-chain.

How up-to-date is the data?

Trades appear in real-time (few seconds delay). Aggregated statistics are updated every 30 seconds.

Can I copy whale trades?

Technically yes, but we don't recommend it. By the time you see a trade, the whale may have already closed the position. Also, their strategies may not suit your capital.

Why do some whales have 'N/A' as Win Rate?

Win Rate is calculated only on resolved positions. If a whale only has open positions, there's no Win Rate to show yet.

How do I know if a trade is reliable?

Look at the whale's track record: high Win Rate, positive ROI, and many trades are good indicators. But remember: past performance doesn't guarantee future results.
